My hopes/goals for junior year are to grow and broaden myself as a person. Become responsible, have good organization, advance my thinking skills as a person. I want to be prepared for college and the future, start looking at what is to come and how I have to prepare. I also want to find myself, my interests. I hope to have an internship that will help me with these things.
What has been most memorable about junior year so far?
One of the most memorable things about junior year so far this first semester has to be The Power Within project. This project pushed my thinking and myself as a person to write and perform something so personal and emotional part about myself that I have never even told anyone about. It changed my relationship with my family for the better. I had finally had a way to tell them this secret I have been holding in for so long. This project is something I feel everyone should get to do. Where everyone is equal and gets to share their story in a a safe environment where nobody is judging you. This is when you are heard, a time a lot of people don't have the opportunity to do. The project changes you, makes you stronger. It also makes you extremely brave and is something a lot of people don't have the courage to do.
How are you evolving as a student? Who were you before? How have you grown?
As a student I feel like I have grown in my responsibilities. In the past, since I wasn't ever really busy I didn't really think about school as often. I would always have time for myself to watch Netflix or draw and not worry. I was clueless about junior year and the work load we would slowly start to get. Now, for example, I have been planning out my schedule precisely based on any meetings, volunteer trips, or homework I have. I have matured in making the decision to attend or not attend certain events for school to come first. Although time management is still something I am working on, it had opened my eyes on how to use my my time effectively.
I liked this picture because I feel like it shows in my perspective how I use to be as a Sophomore becoming a Junior (first head), because I didn't really plan ahead of time for anything. I just did homework a day after it was due, why resorted in me stressing out because of "how much homework we had", when it was really not that much and I just waited for the last minute. Then transitioning to first-second semester of Junior year, I realized you can't always do that. There are many cons to waiting for the last minute. I realized it isn't worth it, and in the future that can't be the case for college or jobs.
In my POL, I included this picture in my slides because in first semester I started using my time more efficiently and was paying attention to time management. I new this was a good skill to master because in the future, that is pretty much all we will need to be doing. So thats why I chose this picture that has people who seem to have jobs because of their attire which reminded me of the future. This semester I also learned about brainstorming emotionally from The Power Within, this picture also included people in a circle that look like they are sharing ideas and brainstorming.
